New Judges Orientation for Accountability Courts
The Council of Accountability Court Judges New Judges Orientation is an annual training designed for new accountability court judges.
The next training is scheduled for August 10-11, 2021.
The training is open to Judges who will be presiding over an accountability court (drug, mental health, juvenile drug/mental health, DUI, veterans’ treatment, or family treatment) for the first time or have less than three years of experience presiding over an accountability court. New Judges will receive information about accountability court operations, best practices, and Council structure. The training format includes two days of lectures.
The CACJ Rules, effective 7/1/20, require that all new judges attend the next available new judge orientation. Judges that have previously attended the CACJ New Judges Orientation (August 2020) are not required to attend again.
Absence from this training could impact a court’s certification status. If this would pose a hardship please contact Ms. Taylor Jones, Executive Director for information on requesting a waiver or substitution of this requirement.
CACJ staff will work with ICJE to approve CLE hours for registered attendees.
Registration for the training opens May 3, 2021 and will end July 16, 2021.
