Evidence-Based Curricula Submission
Evidence-Based Curricula Submission Process
CACJ has established a process for courts to request that evidence-based curricula (EBC) be added to the state supported case management systems. Approved curricula may be eligible for state funding.
What is an Evidence-Based Curriculum?
State Standards require that accountability courts deliver evidence-based treatment curricula to program participants. Evidence-Based Curricula are structured treatment modalities that:
Are grounded in reliable empirical research, such as primary studies using observation or experimentation to collect and analyze data;
Are peer-reviewed, preferably published in academic or professional literature; and
Directly address one or more of the following core treatment areas:
- Substance Use Disorders (SUD)
- Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI)
- Trauma
- Criminogenic risk factors
If Your Curriculum Does Not Meet EBC Criteria
Programs that do not meet EBC criteria may still be submitted as Ancillary Services. These are supportive interventions that may count toward treatment hours and enhance participant engagement but do not qualify as EBCs. Ancillary services should complement, not replace, primary treatment curricula.
Examples of ancillary services include:
- Psychoeducation related to diagnosis
- Coping skills groups
- Nutrition education
- Peer support services
About the Review Process
The Evidence-Based Treatment Workgroup, a part of CACJ’s Treatment Committee, includes CACJ staff and Georgia accountability court treatment providers. The Workgroup is responsible for reviewing submissions for alignment with evidence-based standards and recommending curricula for approval and integration into the case management systems for FY27.
Submission Requirements
Coordinators may submit a Formstack application for each proposed curriculum. The application must include:
- A summary of the curriculum
- A link to information and/or published research
- A PDF of the curriculum manual
- Complete responses to all required questions.
Submissions may include curricula currently in use or those the court intends to use in the future. Applications should clearly demonstrate how the curriculum addresses the needs of the accountability court population and/or fills a gap in current treatment services.
Submission Window
July 15, 2025 – September 30, 2025, at 5:00 PM
Submissions received after this deadline will not be considered during the FY27 review cycle. This process will occur annually during the same window.
Review Timeline:
Submissions will be reviewed by members of the CACJ established Evidence-Based Treatment Workgroup between October 2025 and January 2026, with final recommendations presented at CACJ’s February 2026 Treatment Committee meeting. Programs will be notified of approval decisions following this meeting.
