Often serving as both advisor to the team and zealous advocate for participants, defense attorneys face an array of challenges navigating these dual roles while adhering to their ethical duties. This session will tackle this perennial hot-button issue faced by programs in Georgia and nationwide, offering insights from a diverse panel of seasoned defense attorneys who bring different perspectives to their role. It will also feature a short overview of the issue with a discussion of the relevant Rules of Professional Conduct and a brief survey of other states’ practices.
